A likely fit is a sofa around 40 cm and a dog around 20 kg or less.

What to measure at home

Three checks. Height first, then the landing, then weight. Write the numbers before you look at the price.

  1. 1
Height Stand the tape from the floor to the top of the seat. Do not measure the back of the sofa. Around 40 cm is the target. 36-44 cm is the range we publish today.
  2. 2
Floor space The stairs need a clear rectangle tight to the sofa. A door that opens onto the landing, or a radiator, is why a set can feel narrow even when the dog is small.
  3. 3
Weight Around 20 kg or less. A dachshund, cocker, terrier, spaniel or Frenchie is in range. A Labrador or Shepherd is not.

Leave a clear rectangle

Width and depth matter as much as height. Picture a three-step block sitting flush to the seat, with room for the dog to turn.

  • Width. The landing should be wider than the stairs, with no door swing cutting across the treads.
  • Depth. Room from the sofa into the room so the base can sit tight without blocking a walkway.
  • Tight landing. If a door or radiator owns that rectangle, this set can feel narrow. That is a reason to walk away, not to hope.

The stairs sit in the rectangle, flush to the seat. A door that opens into this box is the usual problem.

We would rather you skip this set than buy the wrong height.

Measuring questions

Honest ranges. Not a 97 percent claim, and not a promise that every dog will use the steps.

How do I measure seat height?

Stand the tape on the floor, against the front of the sofa, up to the top of the seat cushion as it sits in the evening. Ignore the back and the arms. Write the number in centimetres.

Will this set reach a bed?

This three-step set is for sofas around 40 cm. A tall bed is usually above that. If your number is over 48 cm, walk away. Do not buy this set hoping it will invent extra height.

What if the landing is tight?

A door, a radiator or a narrow run beside the sofa is a common reason a set feels too narrow, even for a small dog. If that rectangle is not clear, this is not the right set for that spot.

My dog is a Labrador. Can we try it?

No. This foam set is for small and medium dogs around 20 kg or less. A Labrador or Shepherd is outside that range. We will not stretch the limit to make a sale.

Do you have the exact centimetres of the set?

Not yet. The ranges on this page are the ones we publish today. Exact height, width and depth of the set we sell will be written here once the sample has been measured.
